Scholarship Program

The Idaho Concrete and Aggregate Producers Association (ICAPA) established a scholarship program to all students who are currently enrolled at an Idaho university or college seeking a career associated with the concrete industry.

Applications must be received by the Scholarship Committee on or before May 31st, of current year. The name(s) of the recipient(s) of the scholarship will be announced and check awarded before the end of the year.

Purpose

The Scholarship Program was established by Doug Erickson, on behalf of ICAPA. Doug dedicated many years and much energy to the concrete industry. This scholarship is named in his memory and is established to recognize, encourage, and assist promising students who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in the field of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business; and have an association and/or interest in the concrete industry.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, all candidates must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a concrete/construction related program, with extra points given for Civil Engineering or Construction Management programs.

Junior College candidates must be working towards an Associate of Engineering degree. Junior College candidates must also include a letter of acceptance from any four year of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business granting institution within the state of Idaho.

All Applicants must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours towards their declared degree.

Scholarship Amount

ICAPA anticipates awarding scholarships totaling up to $2,000.

Application

The scholarship application shall contain the following information:

  • A fully completed scholarship application form.
  • Letter(s) of recommendation (extra points but not required).
    An unofficial copy of your college transcript.
  • Finalists may be required to provide an official transcript.
  • One written summary, up to one page in length (approximately 400 words); it should address your life experiences, family, interests, why you are choosing your career, and career goals.
  • List past job experience (if any) in the concrete industry. (Please list companies and supervisor information).
  • List other associations within the concrete industry (i.e. research work, student affiliates in local and national organizations, etc).
  • Letter of acceptance from a 4-year Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree granting institution (Junior College applicants only).
